Eau Gallie Arts District (EGAD)

create | PRESERVE | REVITALIZE | BE YOU...IN FULL COLOR.

WHAT WE DO...

..we are a catalyst for the revitalization of  historic downtown of Eau Gallie.  We work to preserve and enhance all the resources that make us EGAD.  Without our natural, historical and cultural assets—and talented makers that comprise our community—we’d be like any other city.

As if starting a school, much less an urban farm based school, wasn’t enough, AYANA VERDI, founder of the Verdi Eco School, has been selected as a 2019 Drexel Fund Fellow in support of planning an expansion into a new Verdi Eco-high school concept. Ms. Verdi was selected from over 100 applicants nationwide.  The school is also fundraising to purchase the land and building next door to their current property.

The Eau Gallie Arts District Main Street program’s mission is to preserve our natural, cultural and historic assets while building and promoting the Eau Gallie of the future, and there is no better example of that than the Verdi Eco School.  Ayana and John Verdi established the Verdi Eco School, an urban farm school where nature is the classroom, in under three years.  The Drexel Fund seeks and supports new educational models across the country.  Their plans to expand are exciting for all of us, especially those with school aged children and those trying to hire creative talent that values educational choices.  This attention and honor to Ayana is a huge accomplishment for her personally and, by fortune, the arts district and the space coast region.

PLEASE READ the press release and consider making a donation to their efforts to expand.  They have a deadline of May 15 to purchase the land so your generosity and expediency is greatly appreciated.

EAU GALLIE SQUARE IMPROVEMENTS

EGAD’s Design Committee, led by chair, Andrew Roman, has overseen the repainting of the Eau Gallie Square monument, as well as the Eau Gallie Pier monument to look fresh and modern. This was a joint effort between the City of Melbourne Parks & Recreation and EGAD with hand painting of the lettering and the sailboat symbol by Mike McCloskey. The costs were shared by both parties. Here’s AFTER (LEFT) and BEFORE.
