what is EGAD?
- Eau Gallie Arts District (known as EGAD) is a locally-based economic development organization that works in partnership with the city of Melbourne to build a vibrant commercial core in the historic village of Eau Gallie. We engage residents, businesses, civic groups, and public agencies to find solutions for progress, making the area more desirable, profitable, and livable for all those who seek a creative place to live, work or just hang out. Our goal is to become the cultural and creative epicenter on the Space Coast.
- Established in 2010, EGAD is an accredited Florida Main Street program, which is a subsidiary of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Created by the National Trust for Historic Preservation over 50 years ago, Main Street is a national movement to help local volunteers revitalize their neighborhood business districts. EGAD has one executive director and a Board of Directors that conduct the work through four committees, along with a passionate army of volunteers.
- Our impact exceeds our budget which stems from a grant from the Olde Eau Gallie Community Redevelopment Area (CRA), part of the city of Melbourne, and earned income from other grants, membership, sponsorship, donors, and generous visionaries who believe in our mission.
