Fifth Avenue Art Gallery Exhibit

Back to Earth II, an invitational exhibit of pottery and ceramics, opens at Fifth Avenue Art Gallery on June 3. You are invited to the First Friday Opening Reception on June 7 to meet the artists and to mingle with our member artists, from 5:30 through 8:30 pm.

Using the most basic of elements to create works of beauty, these featured artists love to play in the muck. The results are surprising and wonderful, items of both visual beauty and also of everyday service. This is work to remind you that all we have comes from earth and even the most lowly of forms of that earth can be transformed into the most beautiful and useful pieces of 3D art.

This exhibit will run through June 29. Fifth Avenue Art Gallery is located in the Eau Gallie Arts District (EGAD) in Melbourne, FL. All events are free and open to the public. Fifth Avenue Art Gallery is open Monday through Saturday, from 10 am until 5 pm. It is closed for major holidays.

A translation of a French-language play, "Art" is about one person, Serge, who buys an expensive painting, a white canvas with a few white lines, and the reactions of his friends, Marc and Yvan, to his purchase. Marc responds with shock and anger; for him, Serge's purchase of the painting is a cruel joke. Yvan tries to mediate the hostility between Serge and Marc, at the cost of redirecting them to himself. As the conversations moves from the theoretical to the personal, the three friends are forced to ask questions not only about the nature of art, but about the nature of friendship.
